Surveillance in the Digital Enclosure

I took a lot away from this article. I find it very interesting that this “cloud” is can be used to save things. However, as interesting as I believe it is, I don’t think that it is the best idea. Yes, it is nice that it won’t take up so much room on your tablet, laptop, etc. however, I prefer to save something to a hard drive that I can see visibly as to something just out there in cyber space. Also, if what you have is out there in cyber space, wouldn’t it make it easier for someone to steal your files? And wouldn’t it make it easier for them to get lost? What I found most interesting from this article was that with this new form of technology we have the capability of creating a Wi-Fi network for an entire city. However, as most college students know, when too many people are using the same Wi-Fi the internet is much slower than when you have just two or three people using it. As much as I would love to have free Wi-Fi, I would hate to share it with everyone in my town. I believe that this could be possible and they could fix all the problems with it but it would take years to accomplish it and since people are impatient, they probably wouldn’t wait for this all to be set and stoned. Also, giving Wi-Fi to people will cause loss of business for internet service providers, therefore, causing more unemployment. In the end, although it all sounds like a good idea, I don’t believe that it is. I feel like this could end wrong or people just wouldn’t care for it. If all of this goes through I think that it will higher the rate of identity theft and possibly more.
